Welcome to the home of the Twin Cities Marine Aquarium Society

Thank you for your interest in Twin Cities Marine Aquarium Society (TCMAS). This is a club composed of individuals throughout this area who are interested in salt water aquariums and reefs in particular.

We try to meet once a month in a member's home for informal discussion and to see other aquariums. We generally meet at 7:00 p.m. on the second Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday of the month. This allows people who cannot attend on one or two of those dates to at least attend some of the meetings. Our meetings tend to be located throughout the Twin Cities although we probably have more meetings in the southern part of the Cities.

There is a broad range of expertise among our members. It ranges from those who have not set up reef aquariums yet to individuals who are very knowledgeable in both critters and equipment.

Occasionally, we have special meetings. For example, the RiverSouth Reefkeepers and Augsburg College hosted the visit of Dr. Ron Shimek to the Twin Cities in early February 2001. Dr. Shimek is a noted author and lecturer of reef systems and frequent contributor to many forums. We were indeed honored to be able to have him in the Twin Cities speaking to us. We have also had special behind the scenes tours of the Minnesota Zoo and what was then known as Underwater World.

To become a member, you must attend a TCMAS meeting to pick up the membership application. Complete a membership application and give or mail a signed copy to me. There are no dues other than this requirement.

The general location of the next TCMAS meeting is listed on the Club Calendar page. If you are able to attend send a Private Message through the forums to MTFatwork, to get more detailed directions. We do not post the directions on the internet because we meet at member homes and not in a public place. There is no email list for guest so it is up to you to check the website often until you find a meeting you can attend. Once you are a member you will receive email notifications of the meetings.
