View Full Version : Not your average RBTA split...

So about 3 weeks ago one of my RBTA's split and the clones were not even close to equal size like they generally are. One was double the size of the other and the little one was hiding in my corner overflow. I let him heal a bit and moved the little guy back into the main tank. I didn't think too much of it just thought it was goofy.

This afternoon I was in my basement sump doing some maintenance and noticed something stuck to the PVC pipe:

It looks like it wasn't a regular 50/50 split but a 50/25/25 split. The one in the overflow must have split again and his clone took the ride of his life! He made it through my gutter-guard protected drain pipe and down one story to my basement sump. What really amazes me is that he managed to avoid getting sucked up into the skimmer pump (a mere 4 inches from where he's perched in the picture)!

So far all 3 seem to be doing well. Just thought I'd share the crazy story & pic.

That's awesome. I have never heard of that sort of split before!

When mine split a week or two ago it was like that too. The mommy is still half of the size she was originally

It's like a mini-me of the RBTA.

I figured it was about time to move this guy upstairs to the main tank so he can get some decent lighting. This shot shows how small he really is:

BTW, the penny is *UNDER* the glass not in it :)
