I had a little time so I went out to the shop. I should have been working on the new 215 project but I started something else. I had a couple of old Oceanic Model 6 skimmers that I wasn't using and a new Sedra 5000NW pump sitting on the shelf and I thought I could make use of them. I cut the skimmers up and mated them together, made new inlets and outlets, plugged the unused holes with epoxy and added a gate valve and the Sedra pump. Dropped it in a 10 gallon tank, added some water and seeded it with a little junk from another skimmer and away it went. Looks like it should work great.
I do have a question about the outlet at the gate valve. There are some micro bubbles exiting the valve. Would it help reduce them if I added a "T" with a vertical vent pipe before the valve or maybe altered the pipe configuration in some other way? The pipe isn't glued so I can change as needed.
