Ok, so do I have a weird colony or does every ones xenia pulse only when the attinics are on. Its the strangest thing, I turn off the main lights and they pulse then when I turn the main lights back on they stop immediately.

lol, ya I guess. Some times I have to just throw my hands up when it comes to the will of nature.
how long have they been doing that? That's one I've never heard of. how immediate is the change from pulsing to not pulsing and vice versa? When they're not pulsing, do they just stay wide open?
my guess would be that they're opening up as much as possile during "daylight" hours and at night are using their pulsing to move water around them to extract nutrients and such.

Mine does this as well, and within seconds of the daylight. He is all balled up like little fists, but does start pulsing again with the lights on eventually...but I'm not sure how long it takes him to resume pulsing.

within a few seconds of the lights turning off it starts to pulse and when the lights are on they are wide open. Every once in a while I see a polyp close then open but I dont know if that is due to currents blowing the polyp figures around because more time then not only a few fingers close then open.
