The 155 is a bow front so I think the 25 is at the center and it is more like 12 at the sides.

Ray, Remember this isn't a rectangle. Then ends are not 24" wide they gradually curve out to 24". This is where you loose the gallons in the demensions.

We were just having the "should we get a bow front" conversation. We decided for a restaurant, office ect. Absolutely. For home, "No".
Advantages:
looks cool
gives you that blur of movement and color (short views cool)
Disadvantages:
gives you that blur of movement and color (sitting for hours not cool)
harder to light
less water volume
costs more.

Other disadvantage, more difficult to build a custom stand/canopy on bowfronts. Not alot of stock canopy/stands to choose from.

Magnetic cleaners may not work quite as good on bowfronts either.

Mags work nice just steel scrapper is a problem if not parrallel with it.... (always puts a curve in the blade eventually)

How about an opinion from someone who has one!
We just sold one of the 180s. I'll probably replace it with another.

I had one for a while. Nice looking but not functional for a reef with high intensity lighting. Not only the algae cleaning issue but as DG said, building a canopy is a PITA. Probably would work great with a tek on it, the lights being away from the front pane would make less alhae...

I had a 72g bow. That was enough for me to know it aint worth it. For the 72g expecially because the ends were so narrow it's closer to having a 55g than a 75g for aquascaping.

I really like my 155. It is 24" in the middle and I think 18" on the ends. I got the all glass black canopy and it works great. I use a hamilton light fixture with 3-175 metal halides and 2-160 watt VHO's and SPS grow quite well. Magnet cleaner works just fine and I like what I can do for flow with Tunzes aimed at the bow. There is some distortion with the curved glass though. The casual observer really seems to like the curved front. Would be great for a restraunt, etc. I need to get some full tank shots now that my coral have grown so you guys can see what it looks like. My avatar has a year old picture of the center of it.

my 72 I'm happy with. Yes the ends are narrow ( I have my lights hanging) The mags have worked great for me. once in a blue moon I use the scrapper for the fine stuff. Yes I have been looking for a canopy that is a problem. The curve does make it a little bit harder to take pics with my camera, Do I regret getting my 72 no not at all..... for my setup at home its nice to have the curve I think.

Based on the comments. We will continue to offer them, but keep them as a special order only. :beerchug:

I wasn't commenting as to whether you should carry them or not, just merely contributing to the discussion.
