Oh to live in Arizona.....
I think this would be a great idea. Even though we don't get the intensity and frequency of the sun here in MN I think this would provide great supplemental light.

I love that idea. I remember that thread when it first came out! I'm pretty sure I read the whole thing!
I'm going to try to do something similar in the future once we get a house. I will have an attached greenhouse for all our plants and a frag tank or display in there too. I know I will have to supplement it (probably with some solar panels, or wind turbines (my dream), but I definately want to see what I can get away with.

I think in MN, you'd be fine with solar tubes with a LPS or softie tank... but for SPS, some supplementation would be necessary. Pretty cool stuff..

I really liked the detail he/she went into with their picture documentation. It is interesting to see the hourly progression of light intensity.

My guess is stuff would grow ok... just look goofy as a display with 3 hours of light...
What is the least amount of light in the dead of winter?
