Bob would be proud that you built such a nice stand for one of his sumps.
They are works of are.
Great stand! Can't wait to see it wet.

I was worried that the stand would be too goddy for the sump :). The plan is to start with the plumbing in the next week or two. I am starting to worry about getting all the gear and plumbing to fit in the stand. Hopefully the years of planning Tetris would payoff soon.
Storrisch,
You and the wife are always welcome to stop over to check out the tank. Sorry for not making it out to WOF recently. I'm trying to refrain from purchasing any more critters until the new tank is up.
Rihanssu,
I'll definately keep the pump in mind. I kind of exceeded my hobby spending quota for the month with the purchase of the skimmer. I wanted to pick up a RM skimmer to go a long with the tank and sump. But I stumbled upon a great deal for a new Octopus skimmer, which I couldn't pass up.

Wow! That looks great! I am gald you are posting this so I can watch this thing go up again. I really miss that tank and anxious to see it running again. You should have no problem with the plumbing fitting under that stand as it looks like it is talle than the one the tank originally was on. If time allows I would be glad to help with the plumbing on it if you need help. It was kind of a pipe dream the way I had it set up originally.

Thanks guys. The plan was to build a nice stand for the main floor, but now it's going into the unfinished basement. The boss wants it in the lower floor after she saw how much damage was done to the carpet and walls from the salt.
John, hopefully your old build pictures will be enough for me to go by. I don't think I will encounter too much problems with the plumbing work. The problem would be trying to fit all of my gear listed plus a 5g top off container. I'm in Shakopee if you ever want to swing by and check out the setup or help out.
I received my skimmer yesterday and the thing is gigantic. I'll try to snap a few pictures of it tonight. Just in case someone else is interested in getting a DNW200, I found a dealer that sold it for $330 shipped.

Who makes the DNW-200? I've never heard of it.
I assume/hope it's not the same as the octopus/coralvue NW-200...

Why it is the CoralVue NW-200, but the recir model....
Has there been some major problems with it? It seems to be constructed fairly well. I was thinking if the pump bombs out, then that's something that can be replace.

I heard they are great, but I thought the price was more like $150....
I missed that yours was a recirculating model....
the non-recirc are half the price...
Whew! :lol_hitting:

It's a real nice skimmer as long as your not afraid to do some modding to improve the venturi, nw, and the restricted output issues. I personally would never pay the difference for a recirc vs. a non since it's not hard to convert to recirculation for just a few dollars in parts.
There are more and more low dollar skimmers arriving on the market every day that are competing in performance with skimmers 2-3X the cost. Hopefully that should really help pull down the higher end brands cost over time too. But the catch 222 , it is kinda sad that China knock products just make it harder and harder to make an honest living for US builders.

David, I thought the later models of the octopus has improved on the Venturi. If not, then I will probably do that mode and the mesh to start off with. I went back and forth on choosing between the in sump vs the recir model. Since I had the cabinet room, I decided to go with the recir model which is 6" taller then the in sump.
The skimmer is definately bigger then I thought.
