I haven't a clue when it comes to electricity . This company sent me one of their dosing pumps to play with and see if i like it. However it is a DC motor. Anyone here know what i need to get it running ? what do i need to make it variable speed ?
It is a 24v , 0.2amp, 4.0w brush DC motor , its a neet looking pump , i hope it works. http://www.welco.net/

You will need an AC/DC converter. Like what you plug into the wall for say a cell phone, house phone or kids toys. Now if I were you I would find a 24V supply that is rated for like 6 Watts. You can also probably find these at radio shack if you can't else where.
As far as variable speed that shouldn't be to hard of a circuit. I think you could get by with a simple Voltage Divider with one of the resistors being a Potentiometer. If someone else doesn't answer this I can go into it more later as I am heading out of town.

OK so it doesn't have to exactly match 24v , 0.2amp, 4.0w
It can be over.

As long as you are over you are fine.
Here is a variable DC Power Supply on ebay you could fiddle with (it's cheap):

Right.
I'd try axman off of minnetonka ave. They have a much better selection and cheaper prices than Radio Shack.

do they sell this as an item that can fit inside a box and then have a normal cord ? maybe cheaper ?

Yeah you can find dc transformers that are inline with the power cord already sealed in a box like you describe. I have several around but all 12v.
I too hope it works out. Looks like a nice pump with better mounting options and Jaco 1/4" fittings is REAL nice.

well I am rather pleased with how it performed , thanks for the help guys.
anyone know of a cheap way to add a variable voltage nob to the adapter ? the book that came with it says it can operate between 4 and 24 volts.
David recommended one of these . just need one that goes from like 5 to 24. rather than 3-12
