clam not open as normal

My 6 inch blue crocea clam was closed to the point where I could not even see the mouth today.

Any idea's?

yup all day and all night stayed the same.

it still flinches when you wave your hand over it.

will it close all the way? Normally when clams get sick they cannot close all the way because it takes more energy to close than it does to open. Did you add any flow to the tank, or move any powerheads? If it is getting pounded with flow it will not open all the way. It would really be best to post a pic to make sure it is not pinched mantle. You could also pick it up and examine where the foot comes out to make sure that there are no pyramid snails on it. Also if you are keeping clams I recomend buying the Clam book from Dirk. Dont worry, it has large text and lots of pretty pictures, so it is not that hefty of a read, and is a good reference to have if anything looks odd with the clam :)
