For some reason I can't explain, I decided to do some tank maintenance today. I think I am better off staying lazy.

I kalk'd a couple aiptasia because my peppermints are lazier than me and they stopped eating them. While cleaning the syringe, I accidentally satbbed myself and I think I injected a very small amount of mild kalk into my hand. It burns a little - am I going to die?

nah, you'll be fine. maybe a bit of dead tissue, but IMO the stuff is really pretty harmless. I'd be more worried about breathing in a cloud of kalk dust.

Do frag off that arm if you begin to notice tissue necrosis.

I think you're using the wrong syringe :gay1:

I have had some of the stuff go in my mouth while making a siphon. Won't do that again.

I do that almost every time. My solution is to be lazy about water changes.

Milk out what you can, clean the wound well, and put some neospirin on it. Call me if it looks bad.

We have some safety labels at work, do you want me to get one for your syringe? "Warning SHARP" lol

Well, my whole arm ached for about a half hour but I think that was all in my head. Things bother you when you think about them.

I'm not sure a label will help me. Earlier this week I dropped a pen and tried to grab it before it fell ..... well, I managed to slam my (other) hand into it right as it hit the chair perfectly straight. I ended up with a puncture wound and a minor tattoo I hope goes away soon. I'm just having problems.

So far, only my pinkie has fallen off so I think I'm good to go.

don't cover the puncture. You're only trouble will likely be if it gets all nasty and infected. Trapping nasties deep in a puncture is not something you want to do, IIRC from my wife.

Except for the little black dot from the ink on the tip of the pen, its all better now.

My kalk wound is now just a little small red dot.

I've stabbed and injected myself with rabies/canine distemper (vaccine) I don't know how many times, usually my arm hurts for like a day, but I think it's all in my head too. :beerchug:

I think that you should only do that like every three years.;)

Not sure what kind of nasties could survive in kalk. People add vinegar to kalk to increase its solubility, without any fear of getting a bacterial bloom. Heck, it may have sanitized the puncture wound. :)

You are one accident prone dude...I distinctly remember an incident with a soldering iron.
