Yes, Pygmy Angels need more room.
or should I stay with clownfish?Clownfish would work, but there are lots of other options. Sometimes a clown will host in a coral you like, and will pester the coral too much, depends on the clown and the corals.
I like blue/green chromis alot but there are lots of reef safe options.

I have a pair of these Stonogobiops nematodes w/ a pistol shrimp (Alpheus djeddensis) in my 14g. I also have a hasselts goby and a neon goby.

I've got a 29 gal biocube getting ready to setup. Funds are slow now so I haven't been able to buy my rodi/live rock yet so the tank is still dry in my living room :(.
My plan for fish is:
Clown
Flame Angel or Multicolored Angel
Royal Gramma
My last fish if I think I can make it work or find one that eats prepared food will be a mandarin.
If the mandarin won't work I'll go with a goby or blenny of some kind.
I'm no expert, so take my plan with a grain of salt. More experienced people may very well come along and tell me how wrong my plan is ..........

centropyge angels would do better with more space and a pretty established tank. The pygme and flameback are better for tanks, but I think this might be on the border of too small. plus, In smaller tanks I've heard they're more prone to nipping, aggression. I think that's stretching it for a gramma, too. (insert lavar sound clip) but you don't have to take MY word for it. *take a look, it's in a book*
okay I need some sleep this is true.

What he said. I'd worry about the Mandarin too, but I don't have personal experience with those so I have to leave it to your research.

That's my concern about the mandarin to and why I'll wait till last. Its wishful thinking but I'm prepared to go another way if it won't work.
I'll wait till my tank is established to add the angel, but is a 29 really too small for them? I've read they don't grow much more than 3.5". It was going to be my "show" fish and I thought I had read that they are often kept in larger nano's.

You certainly wouldn't be the first to try it. I guess I personally think a 55 is about right, a 40 is ok, and a 30 is too small, but you will definitely find people who disagree. IMHO, they need lots of things to peck at during their day, and a bigger tank provides that better.
