It looks like a limpet to me. They are good in my experience.

I have wanted some ever since I saw Scott (Lincoln Log)'s. His chitons are like 5+"

Funny thing is, i have noticed 1 or 2 in my tank as well. So in the last week i had looked up and asked myself the same questions. Came to the conclusion that they are a type Limpet or Chiton by looking at the "Invertebrates by Julian Sprung" (http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+4538+4543+8678&pcatid=8678)
I also think i have some Chitons in my tank as well (but not sure, will try to get a pict)

Yeah, chitons are pretty good algae eaters from what I've read. I'd leave him be.

Cool guys, thanks for the help with tthe ID resources. I hadn't seen one before and then last night I was flashlighting the tank and saw 4 or 5 of them all in one general area. They went for cover when the light hit them. The biggest one was about a quarter inch long. God knows they have enough algae to eat...

Maybe a mod could change the title of the thread to help those searching for info on Limpets and Chitons in the future.
