2 seio 1500 or 2 Tunze 6100s

i'm setting up a 40 gal breeder that will be a frag/QT tank. would you use 2 tunze 6100's on a 7095 multi controler or a 2 seio 1500's ? the tank will be (gulp) barebottemed

Two 6100's are the way to go. I just don't trust anything that is made by rio. BTW nice avatar.

When possible and budget allows, I would always choose variable/random flow vs. a always on scenerio. I myself probably would never buy a seio partly because of the brand but also since the larger ones are so freakin' big.

I chose two seios with the controller. I have the controller set to go from 100% down to 50% every 15 seconds. It works fine. With the extra money I had left over that I would have spent on the Tunze kit I bought corals. Now my tanks rocks! Screw Tunze unless you got the big bucks.

I've had good luck with the seio 1500 I have. Random flow would be nice.

use the new Polario, i talked to the Rio at MACNA, they will hit the market in 2 months. looks cool. shame they dont have one for sale at MACNA.

I personally could give a crap about a name. They both move water and are controllable. One costs about a third of the other. Do the math.

BTW I have had more tunzes crap out on me than any and all other pumps combined!

I now run Seio's and have had no problems. Furthermore there is no oil in the seio's pump to leech into the tank if there is a malfunction like there was on other rio's. With that in mind why pay $300 for a tunze when a $50 seio will do almost the same thing. You could buy 6 seio's and push a whole lot more water for the same price than one tunze if you compare water flow per dollar cost.

I've had the opposite, I've went through 2 1100 and 2 1500s in like a year ( yes, I dekalked), what more is that TAAMs support sucks, they never responded to requests... Tunze are rock solid performers and have a true controller...

I know that, it's a crappy controller, limited abilities to go from 50% to 100%, nowhere near the capabilities of the 7095....
