Hi,

My lawnmower blenny only eats algae off my glass. He/ she won't take nori on a clip. Also doesn't seem to be interested in any flake or forzen stuff I have tried so far. Other than letting the algae grow a lot on my glass anyone had any success with anything else? Mine is looking rather ragged and I'm afraid if I don't get his diet in check he might be on the way out...All my other fish are fat as far as I can tell. My Kole tang does not like the lawnmower though and I suspect that he might be part of the reason the lawnmower is under stress. Any food ideas appreciated!

mine will eat algea off the rocks and sand as well as the glass, but I have never seen him eat any of the flake food or brine shrimp I have put in the tank

My lawnmower will from time to time try to eat nori, but he's not very successfull at actually chewing/eating it. He'll generally only get some scrapings or small chunks my tang loses. When I first got him, he was looking thin, but held off cleaning the glass for several weeks and he started plumping up. I always leave the back wall un-scraped for him to graze, and sometimes he gets a sidewall too (depending on how much motivation I have when I'm cleaning). Since the initial phase, he's been nice and plump.

They'll also pick at the rocks too, but he seems to get the most off the glass since there's no competition there with the crabs, etc. Maybe try putting some nori in there after the tang's had its fill so the lawnmower has a chance to nibble on it.

I have had several and my observations have been the same as you. Mainly just eating off the glass. After about a years time they have eventually perished.

I don't get them anymore for that reason.

My LMB would eat off the rocks and glass, it was fat and happy.
Then two weeks ago my Lionfish had it for lunch..:bawling:
