I'm thinking about using a fuge instead of a skimmer in my bc 29. The problem is getting a light in there. I don't want anything hanging off of it nor do I want holes in the canopy.
How do you know what makes a good fuge light? Is there a certain color temperature that is required? How do you figure out how bright it needs to be.
I found these waterproof LED's and though I could modify my hood to hold one over the back chamber that would be the fuge but I don't know if they are the right kind of light or not.

nano-tuners.com has a few fuge lights but I think they would be too big. I tried searching out a very small fuge light for my BC14 center chamber to no avail.

I think I can find something waterproof and make it work - I'm just not sure on the lighting requirements for the fuge to work.
Would a couple LED's be better - like 3W or less - or a small incandescent lamp? I've also found a 10W halogen pond light I think might fit. Maybe that is best.
I just don't know what kind of light I need. Once I understand that I think I can find a way to get the light in there.

the concern I have is that putting a halogen light in an enclosed canopy so close to the water is that it would put off quite a bit of heat.
I think LED's in the 6500-8000k spectrum would be the ideal range for macro growth.
I havent seen any incandescents that are that small that they would fit well enough in the fuge. I would also be concerned with them putting a ton of extra undesirable spectrum light into the display section of the tank itself and possibly causing algae to grow in the display section.

- I think something like this would work but I do not see a listing of what the LED spectrum is. seems kind of expensive for a few leds too.

Pls dont go for halogen pond lights, try to find some led on the websites.

There is this JBJ Fuge light, magnetic little dealy.
$55 at Marine Depot, but I'm pretty sure SWE has it on their black friday list for $44 bucks. Check it out?

Check dimensions if its comparable to a bc29. I've heard good things from these.

To continue with the 4 year old thread.
I have one on my BC29, used with the inTank basket. The dimensions are fine. I had to remove the black coating on the back of the tank with some goof-off and a razor where I was going to place the light.
