I am going to order up the ac jr and was wondering, do I need more than one type of ph cal solutions, and the x10 cable, is that a normal cable that you could get at radio shack or a special cable.
Does anyone have the cable or extra cal solution they aren't using?
Does anyone have a complete system they are selling.:rotflmao:
I am buying the jr, with dc8, ph probe, and serial.

Remember you have the max controllable devices of 12 with a Jr. So if you plan more than 4 X10 modules along with the supplied DC8 then you need one of the higher end controllers.
I have never run x10 with my Jr. To do so you need the X10 control interface from Neptune ( it's about $30 ).
Yes you need PH 7 & 10 to calibrate the Ph probe for the Jr. 1 will not be sufficient. I know you can get them for like $1 a piece.
May I ask what do you invision the need for x10 vs. using the DC8 / DC4 / DC4HD connections. Much more reliable to do that way when possible.

I asked the question to quick, I previously decided that I don't need the x10 and when I was pricing it out I clicked on it thinking that it was nothing more than a cable, and therefore may be the required connection from the controller to the computer. Just to make sure, is it a standard rs232 cable to connect the computer and controller and is it included. I know that you didn't buy this option, but you seem to be well versed in the options.

The cables from your Jr. main unit to the DC8 is provided. I believe they are just standard telephone cord if you need it to be longer.
The serial cable to hook up to your PC is NOT included. You can make your own cable if you wish or buy theres. Located on the neptunesys.com website in the Hardware FAQ section on support has the pin configuration chart. A standard cable yes but you do have to switch the pin configs around they won't work straight out of the box ( unless you buy there cable and just need a straight through extension. It is explained on the FAQ page ). If your PC is not near the tank, you probably will have to make your own to get the length ( 100foot max ). There are wireless serial devices but are very expensive. You can do a search in Neptune sponsor forum to see if users have found any cheaper wireless alternatives. Also a number of newer pc don't even have a serial connection anymore so you may need to get a usb to serial converter to hook up to your PC.

Dirk and also Ocean Devotion carries them. OD's price is $1.50
It is reusable. Just store the packet air tight between uses.

Of course if the PH probe doesn't ship (I'm curious if the operator knew what he was talking about ) then it's all a mute point.
