What do people feel works the best? The drip method? The pour in half a cup of water every five min. method? Or the float it and dump it? (I have never heard of this being a good way, but know many who have done it!)

I know that some inverts can be very tempermental to salinity and pH. I have also heard that sometimes the longer the acclimation takes the harder it is on the invert. What are peoples thoughts on this? I have always had good luck with the "half a cup of water every five min, method, but was thinking of doing the drip method this time. Thoughts?

I always have airline around and rig up drip tubes for everything I put in my tank. Long acclimations are fine IMO as long as you don't let the water get too cold.

I have a specimen container (one of those plastic $10-15 ones) that I hang on the inside of the sump so it's in the water to help maintain the temp, then do a drip acclimation from the display down to the container.

If the animal being acclimated will not be stressed out by an airstone (ie coral) I also put one of those in there. I then drip acclimate for 1-2 hours depending on the animal that's being acclimated.

This is for inverts/coral.

Ditto above, I float them in the sump and drip acclimate for as long as I can stand it. I don't add the water they came in to the tank so I pull them out of their bag, dip them in a separate container of water from the display to rinse them off somewhat and then drop them in the main tank.

Float for 15 mins then put them in a bucket, and drip for 1-2 hrs. usually about 1.5gallons worth of water, then catch them with the net and toss them in.

I have at times thogh just dumped snails and crabs in tihe tank after a 15 minute float... I just think the above is a better way.
