i like astreas add like 50 more. when you run out of algae itll be food for the hermits lol

Good point- you can talk to Fritz about this too, but forget the hermit crabs- all they will do in the long run is eat your astreas and knock down whatever coral frags that they can.

Darasy is right: I'd invest in more astreas. You can't really go wrong with them, as all they really do is eat your algae. I think that a good range is somewhere around 1 astrea per gallon tank size.

I hate astreas, if they fall down on the shell they can't right themselves. Conchs are also nice to have.....

I will only keep margarita snails and the really really small blue leg hermits. Everything else comes equipped with a bulldozing option they feel inclined to use.

I would def. recommend nassarius, cerith, some more astrea, and for sure a cucumber and a conch or 2. Oh, and maybe a couple emeralds if you can spring for them.

What would be the ideal cleanup crew for a 12 gallon nano w/ softies???

I love having a conch. If I ever get around to it, I'd probably get more astreas.

I imagine that most good live rock comes with a lot of volunteer clean up crew members. Mine did anyway...

oh yeah I also keep a ton of nassarius since they do a good job at eating any excess food

Here is my proven list of cleanup critters.

astreas and ceriths 2-1 ratio for general cleanup and a few margaritas
NO HERMITS they just eat snails!
Peppermint shrimp if I have aptasia issues.
Emerald crabs if I have bubble algae issues
Bryopsis I use lettuce nudis. 4 per 20 gallons and it is usually gone in a week.
