How fast do you want them to grow? Where do you want them growing? Meaning....they'll grow quicker higher up, but that space is usually reserved for higher quality coral.....
They'll grow anywhere

What type of tank (dimensions), how many bulbs and what wattage? Once they'er acclimated, placement won't really be a hugely critical factor, IME. If you have a shallow tank though and a lot of light, you will most likely not want to have them too high. As stated, start them a the bottom and let them acclimate before finding a permanent place. Bambams will grow at a good pace almost anywhere in the tank, as long as they are getting decent light and moderate water flow. While placement can affect the color somewhat, some bam-bam strains are just brighter than others. I have two kinds side by side at the bottom, and one is noticeably more fluorescent than the other.

Hey Jeremy, They were under 2x250 MH and about 3/4 of the way down in the tank. Tank depth is 27".
