No, you're not doing a good job, they are dying. You are not feeding enough, or the polyps are not receiving the food. You will known when you are feeding enough when you see new polyp growth.

also, are you sure it was the tissue that blew off, or maybe just some detrius that accumulated in/around the polyps? (just a hopeful thought)

I believe brine shrimp are generally considered less nutritious than most other foods, unless they are somehow gut-loaded. You could try only feeding mysis soaked with selcon to make sure they're getting enough nutrition from the food.

I have the best luck with the enriched brine shrimp and I've had mine for a year and a half. I target feed each polyp with a transfer pipet. Not all of my polyps are large enough to eat mysis shrimp. I'll probably get a designated food processor for fish food so I can feed it more of a variety. Just my experience.

I feed a mixture of live baby brine and adult frozen brine along with some plankton preperations.
Also you need to hit every polyp head.
