Assembly of a kent float valve?

I hooked up a float valve to fill a tank and it seems to be leaking on the outside, and the tank isnt up to the valve yet so it has to be where the tube meets the valve. When I took it apart the little internal pieces kind of fell out, I thought I put them back together correctly, but I guess I didnt. Any one have one of these or know who it goes together?

I always use some Teflon tape on the threads of the valve and make sure the gasket is compressed against the wall. Also make sure the nut has no internal damage as it is also a compression bushing.

I just moved mine from the old tank to the new tank. As an aside, I place mine through a baffle in the bubble trap, that way if it leaks (unless its a major leak), it doesn't really create a problem. If you place it though an outside wall in the sump any leak is outside the sump. I need to leave more space between baffles to do it, but I like the setup.

I think there may be some slight variations of the kent float valves. I have this one (if the link works)

One mine, you drill the hole, put the float valve in the inside and screw the other black piece over the thread on the outside, tighten it just like a bulkhead. Then you screw on the larger white threaded piece. You then put the slip thingy over the tubing, about a 1/4 inch up it. You put it throught he second white threaded piece, and then you slide the tubuing into the back of the bulkhead/first white threaded piece opening. You then screw the second white threaded piece onto the first, and tighten it down.

You should definitely use teflon tape.

there are two little pieces in between the two white pieces. One is a slip with one larger rim and the other is slightly tappered.

I never can remember exactly, I usually just unscrew one of the fittings on the RO unit to take a look at what direction the tappered one goes.
