We have used GFO for long enough on enough systems to give it the  as a method for helping remove phosphates.

Enjoy a deal only advertised on TCMAS during our Appreciate TCMAS time:

$59.99 TCMAS GFO Starter kit includes:

Kent GFO reactor (regular $47.99)
Bulk reef supply GFO (regular $23.99)
Maxijet 900 or 600, your choice (regular $27.99)

Do the math :) Get them while supplies last or until the TCMAS/SWE meeting whichever comes first!

Nice link... I'm kinda a picture and summery guy myself. One thing I noticed in the picture is he hung the reactor outside the sump. I'm not a big fan of that, I'd hang the thing IN the sump, unless its some beefy reactor made by Porter. Just in-case it does leak it wont get all over.

We were totally thinking of going there. Then we decided breathing was high on our priority list. :gay1:

all you gotta do is get close to the ocean and never look east... Beautiful air comes off the ocean... up north, it gets a bit scarier to breath or even open your eyes. You'd love it in (parts of) the OC.

Great Deal!!! I'll second the motion for those of you that are curious about GFO, Take SWE up on this deal!

If you have algae issues, you need this!!!

I totally agree with Wes, we moved here from Long Beach for a "year" 11 years ago, and regret it all the time... But since we had kids, it's a much smarter choice to stay here. Anyways, GFO stops algae? Will it take care of all types of algae or only some?

Where in Long beach did you live? We're considering buying a house there as there are some nicer neighborhoods and good deals...

Phosphates are the easiest to limit in a reef tank to slow down algae, but remember, all living things need some phosphate present. IME, low phosphate=little nuisance algae growth (all kinds of algae), faster calcification.

right off Del Amo and Lakewood, could almost see the Lakewood mall.
There are some great areas in Long Beach, though, especially by the beach.

Have any of these left? I was looking wondering about one yesterday, but we couldn't find it.
