So I was wondering if anyone regularly buys either live coral, sand, or rock etc. off of ebay, and if they have been happy with the results? If so could you recommend any particular supplier or shop on there?

thanks :fish:

Seems people are just stupid and prices get way overbid for anything to be considered a deal on ebay. I'm sure there are some exceptions.

I think you would do better buying local from club members or a few of the good LFS. If your down south, come up for a meeting or frag swap.
LR would be OK from F&S or Premiumaquatics, they get it to your door, but you then need to cure it.
Free LS is always being given away.
Hold out till REEFSTOCK opens, or go see Dirk or Max.

you could try out some of the uber cheap bulbs from ebay, I've bought PCs that way that turned out fine, but ebay is certainly a seller's market. Everyone goes there to buy things. Everything sells for more than it ought to.

You can find things on eBay thjat you cannot find anywhere else, but shipping suck...a lot. Reefstock isnt much better than any other LFS, and once they have the overhead of a storefront I'd expect it to be comparible to OD or WoF. I guess it depends on what you are looking for.

Thanks for the info. one other question.... I've seen MH fixtures(150w hqi pendant) made by aqua medic for less than 260.00 and was wondering if they are pretty decent or not.

thanks again

Aquamedia spacelights are real nice. Aquamedic ocean lights are a cheaper version the reflectors are not quite as good. If this is a used fixture remember to include the cost of buying a new bulb to the price. You can get a brand new 250W Ocean light with bulb for $259 ( 10k) or $279 ( 20k ) which I would much prefer over a 150. www.premiamaquatics.com will price match in other mailorder ( not ebay ) and is just outside of chicago so shipping is a little cheaper and generally gets here second day vs. most other mailorder are in CA and takes closer to a week. DrFostersmith is close too but they don't price match and prices usually aren't quite as good for hardware unless on sale items.

not to beat a dead horse but your chances of getting a good deal and KNOWING what you get are better... besides we've already bought it all and now we're selling it ;)
