So I recently bought 2 peppermint shrimp to kill off some aiptasia that was on some rock I bought. One was significantly larger than the other (almost double the size).

Last week the larger of the two shrimp attacked, killed, and ate the other shrimp. Now this weekend, I noticed the big shrimp was hiding underneath a rock eating one of my scooter blenny's! After looking around, I can't seem to find the other scooter blenny I had either!

All three of these fish have been healthy, so I'm pretty sure they didn't die from sickness.

Has anyone else seen this? Or do I have some sort of evil peppermint shrimp?

I'm about ready to get rid of this shrimp since its such a pain.

Are you sure they were peppermint Shrimp? I have heard this about camel shrimp, which from what I hear look similar. Just a thought..

What size tank is this in and how long has it been running? If you know this already then ignore :) Scooter blennies are actually not blennies, they are dragonets, which can actually be pretty difficult to keep even if they are eating prepared/frozen foods. I've heard of them dying if they don't have a large enough pod population in the tank so they can eat off the rock all day.

If it is a peppermint shrimp and not a camel I would think the fish probably did die and the shrimp was just cleaning up. I don't think peppermint shrimp will kill live, healthy fish.

Pretty sure its a peppermint shrimp (unless it looks like one). I actually have a camel in the tank thats very timid, haven't had any problems.

Its a 14 gal, been running about a month and a half now. Levels are good, I test almost daily.

From watching the tank when the peppermint is active, he seems very aggressive towards anything near it and also tends to mess with other tankmates.

I'll try to get a pic of him tonight to see if anyone can identify him as a peppermint, or a look-a-like.
