Anyone have any good negative reinforcement techniques for keeping brittle stars from stealing food from corals and anemones? :firecracker:

I tried feedng them first for a while, but I can't afford that. They eat like twice their body volume of mysis!

Is there something that is cheaper than mysis that you could feed to them?

About the only thing I know is to make a cage from window screening, coke bottom, or from cross-stitching material to put over the coral.
Pretty much a necessity with any shrimp, crabs, stars in the tank. Or like others have said banish the critters to the sump/refugium.

go to the grocery store buy a raw shrimp in the deli-take it home cut in half and feed it to the brittle---he will be fat and happy for awhile! Mine LOVES them! And it is fun to watch the bristle worms come and get if from them!
