looks sweet Chad, i'd love to have a sea horse tank, i've herd they are tough to keep ...is that true, what water conditions do they like?

they like slower flow, not like a reef tank. I think most of the difficulty comes from whether or not the seahorse will eat frozen food or not. That, and they need to be fed more frequently as they have a more simple digestive system.

From what I've read they like cooler water 74 degrees. Disease is less likely in cooler water also. I'll let you know Dwight:biggthumpup:

A hex is a great seahorse tank because they like to move up and down as much as across. I would suggest building up the center as much as you can so they have plenty of places to attach to. They like slow water movement and with no skimmer you will want to keep up with the water changes.
I had an 85 hex as a seahorse tank and they were great to watch. Unfortunately I had some health issues and couldnt keep up with the maintenance so I had to tear it down.
If it is going to be a dedicated seahorse tank I would not try and establish a feeding station as a number of sites suggest. I would feed the tank and the seahorses would swim in all different position to get the food which was also very cool. When they start doing their mating dance they will swim to the top and then bending over and dive for the bottom.
Good luck with your tank and keep posting updates.

Tank looks fantastic, the only concern I would have is that the rock structure goes so high that anytime you do a water change, rock will more then likely be out of the water.

Did you have to make special legs for that light to get it to fit on the hex?

I just slid them till the light was centered then tightened them up. I was a little concerned about it.. But it worked out perfect.
