kind of. It is on LA as a micro minuta, but it doesnt look like a minuta, I thought it could be an amakuensis.

Well, either way this should be interesteing. I took an expensive gamble, but man, if this is an amakusensis that would rock!! If not, minuta's are pretty rare too and I will try to make some off my $$ back by fragging it.

I saw that piece during the tour on Saturday. One of many very nice pieces.
The green is much, much more pronounced in person.

perhaps, but every photo of minuta I have seen has ridges or ripples in the polyp tissue. This one seems to be more textured and not rippled

Chad- not yet, I may if it is what I hope.

I posted this pic in a different forum and Jen-dub seemed to think it was an amakusensis, so I am still hopefull, but only time will tell. Today is going to go by so slowly waiting at work...

Gimme your money chump!!

This is by far the largest colony of micromussa amakusensis I have ever seen. The polyps are small, but thats typical with wild pieces. Once it has spend a month or two in captivity being fed and lower flow the polyps will fill out more and look more ike youd expect them to. I'd guess 300+ polyps if it all survives. I just took it out of the bag, (snuck out of work early he he). Ill have pics up either later tonight ot tomorrow.

BAM!!!!

as of now the official plan is to move to the west coast about this time next year, so I will have to get rid of everything by then.

Derek just due to polyp size I really doubt that is a Micro amak. Judging by your frag for sale on the eggcrate the frag is 10 polyps long and its covering 3 squares of eggcrate which is 1 1/2 inches making each polyp about an 1/8 inch. Unless you have larger eggcrate. The minuta and diminuta have smaller polyps and are less tissuey than a amak. Going by size for a micro I would say it's a Micromussa diminuta Their polyps are just under a 1/4 inch.

They are definitly smaller polyps, but its hard to say. I fragged it so I could see how they react to being less crowded. My UFO has similar sized polyps, so I dont know, Ill likely expose a little skeleton to confirm. I thought some time in captivity would tell me more. Ive seen some really small amakusensis . The polyps the edges are a bit puffy-er, but only time will tell for sure.

Hhttp://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c25/epidemic420/P1010372.jpgere are a few photos of some different micros that have really small polyps

Here's an update just for Bill. Sorry the focus kind of sucks, but its hard to stay still while squatting over a tub. I am curious if you opinion has changed at all.

That close-up looks more like the micro amak's I have. But it's still really small.

They are starting to inflate more as I feed them. I broke off a little piece last night. I tried scraping off the flesh today, but there is still some on there. Ill dry it out a little more and remove the rest
