After seeing some of the small tank build makes me want to do the same. I recently had my anenome split and after hearing clownnuts bad news I decided to remove both my anenomes while I had the chance. Now im sad to see my clowns without there home. So now I have this tank. thought I could drill it add it to my system through a rock or two and a anenome 2 clowns and call it good. Looking for good ideas. Lights, plumbing sizes....etc.

Will the lights on the hood work or no?
tank big enough for anenome ,2 clowns?

Lights will need to be upgraded. You're going to be in for a nightmare/challenge (half empty/half full) reefing out this tank. I'd suggest maybe going with a 10 gallon glass tank since they're only 10 bucks.

why would this be a bad tank to add to my 90 gllon system

I belive its a 1.5 gallon tank, but would be drilled and tied into my 90

I have a retro PC Ballast that you can have if you'd like. I believe it's either 32 or 64 watts with the square pin waterproof endcap. All you'd need is a bulb.

I like the idea of a small tank tied into the main system, although I fear a 1.5 g would just be to small for a pair of clowns, even the nem would most likely outgrow it. a 5-10g would be more suitable IMO.

Im not sure what im gonna do yet. I have to wait a week to let the anenomes heel first, but thanks i will let you know what i decide.

For me, I wouldn't go with any tank that is smaller the 24"L. Main reason, lighting. You really want to go with T5s and they don't come smaller than 24". To me PCs is just a waste of money.

So 20H would be the smallest I'd do if going with a standard glass tank.

For just anemone and clowns, powerhead ( with foam on the intank ) and Liverock is all that would be needed.

shorter than 24" long and you could use 70 or 150w halides. I've kept anemones under this lighting before in smaller tanks with no issues--right now I have a condy section in my sump lit by a 70w halide.

that is more then i want to spent if i have to use halides. Also dont have room for a tank that big. I thought if it would work it would be a bice tank to use, but to small and to expensive for the lights. Would rather get rid of the anenomes and get some more sps and a new fish.

sad to see big hole in tank where the anenome used to be and see the clown swimming in it old space.....:wzbigcry:

Petco usually has a $1/gallon sale in august. get a 20L

BRS has 2 T-5s for 120 IIRC.

Buck-40 and you've got a tank going!

I have a 20 long already that I wanted to make a frag tank out of. I just dont have the room for another tank. This little guy fit nicely on my canopy. After the good advice might just call it quites on the small tank. More work then its worth. It was my first coral I pit in my tank well over a year ago, along with the 2 clowns, thunk thats why it bums me out to see them go.
