View Full Version : My 15 dollar, 30 minute or less canopy, light upgrade, complete with FTS

So I got off my toosh, went to the man store, bought a few 6 foot boards.. and mounted up my 100 dollar dual 175watt MH setup.


Not sure how to go about timing them (on and off) next trip to the man store will get me a new front board (cut it to short, wanted it to cover the end of the sides and top) and a quart of black paint. My next wood working attempt will be a stand for it.


This is the results. Also in there is 2 65watt actinics.

The PC's I had before (3 10K 65 watt bulbs) sure made it look brighter, but the 10K MH's defiantly look better.

Nice, very similar to several canopies I've built. Now just cut a 4" hole on each side with the jigsaw and mount up some fans. This will keep your temps alot more stable, improve gas exchange through evaporation, and extend bulb life.

Oh, and ditch the glass tops...

They are gone already Spsick. They where there to keep the cats from swiming with the fishies..

Going to get a couple of fans for it to. $ is a bit tight. With the cash for clunkers deal work has steadly dropped off the past week. We've lost a lot of customers with good, clean, higher mile cars to that bs. Now it'll be at least a year of nothing but oil changes with them until the new cars get some miles on them :(

Nice looking 30 min. canopy. :D Sorry to hear about the cash for clunkers thing screwing with your business... I guess the unintended consequences of this 'good thing' are a little less obvious...

If only the government was concerined with the little guy, and not the companies IT owns.

But hey, at least with the market crash lumber is dirt cheap :) I just realized 2X4's for my stand are under 2 bucks each. I remember paying 4 dollars just a few years ago.

Very nice job. Just go to Radioshack and pickup 2 - 120mm computer fans and splice them into a old phone charger works great and should only cost around $20. :cool:
