okay i've done searches on this and read alot but i just wanted to get opinions from people that actually has one or don't. i am planning on having custom tank done. it will be in an L shape with the bottom piece that goes out be a built in refugium. i think doing this with a glass tank is going to be harder than with an acrylic one. i own a glass tank so i know the ups and downs on it but need input on acrylic. do they really scracth that easily? also for long term what tank would be better? another thing is i'm going to be putting it on the bottom floor of the house. the bottom is concrete, like a garage concrete floor but with carpet on top. the tank is going to be right around 100 gallons total, give or take a gallon which would add up to about 1000 lbs. should the floor be able to hold it w/o any problems?

concrete is the best place to put large tanks. Acrylic does scratch very easily, however, scratches in acrylic are fairly easy to remove. It really just depends on what you like I guess. I have 2 acrylic and 1 glass tank. Acrylic gets a versitility that glass just cannot, at least not cheap.

as far as I know, yes you would have to drain.
