View Full Version : Alien lifeform on my live rock

I just came up to my room to go to bed. The light on my tank has been off for a few hours, and I was going to try and catch a glimpse of my little sea star. When I turned on the light, I noticed this thing hanging on to my live rock. It was about 2-3mm thick and about 4" long. It was a dark color (purple, gray, or black), and forked at the end. Originally I thought that it was a hair or something, but it sucked itself into the piece of L.R. right after the light was turned on! Does anyone have a clue as to what this creature was? I wish I had a pic, but the light was on for less than five seconds and it was gone.

Should this be something that I should attempt to kill, or is it good?

It is unclear as of yet exactly what it is. But, it is likely harmless.

most likely a peanut worm. they eat dentritus by licking it up, i think there cool, many different kinds, mabye this one was a freak with 2 heads?

It wasn't a peanut worm. it's much thinner than that. The tip of it looked a lot like a sprout:
