Just got it in.....DG you told me to get the magnets...why don't I listen?
At first I said $300+ for this little box of plastic!
Any how, i popped it in the 125 just to see if it would work and its pulling out stuff within the hour.
Now to order the magnets:ac39:

The best thing about it is how consistant it is, super small footprint and low maintenance. It has well exceeded all my expectations.

I just got one the other day and it is amazing. I love it
i got one tunze 9010 never work right from first day,,send to roger from tunze usa but still doesn't raise any foam ,,i place it in sump water mark are half of the body but still don't work good
i think this skimmer is more like for who ever want to place it in show tank b/c the size is small and quiet but if i have space in sump i rather go with other brand name
here is a few thing i don't like about this skimmer
1,the body of the skimmer is make by soft plastic when ever if wrap the neck of skimmer to take it out,,the neck just pop out (never click in place )
2,the bottom plate is very ez to slip out little bit (if it does slip out a little the skimmer doesn't work right,,very touches)
3, it not ez to clean at all b/c is small and black you can't see anything and you have to place the pump right otherwise it doesn't seem to work too,
4< i never buy this skimmer again if i don't have too,,
5< i got this skimmer from aquacave and once i know it don't work right then i want to return or exchange they don't want to take it back at all,,they telling me to send it to Roger to pix it,,very dissapointed,,

KVM, I can look at it for you if you want. Magnet is a must if your not using the insump fittings. There is only 1 known issue and that's with the pump. I'm sure Roger has already gone through that with you.
I've had mine for 4 months now ( running sump mode ), and liked it so well bought a second for the frag tank ( running in tank mode but located in the sump ). None of the issues you raise are a concern for me. Being Black is pretty much a have to for the option of running in tank. Coraline building in the inside would be too great when light allowed to pass through. Bottom plate doesn't have to be air tight. You may have it in backwards as it isn't labeled too well.
I had some issues that set me back a few hours because of shifting in transit with how the pump sits in it. Other than that has been rock solid.

Actually the one with the magnet is the back of the skimmer, the in sump is the front. Your only missing the two sides but there are no fittings or anything on them just black walls......
One design thing I'd like differently is output part of the cup to also be square or at least not larger diameter than the skimmer body. I have the one in the frag tank just a higher than I'd like becuase the skimmer cup hits the sump walls.

OK guys, you convinced me to order a 9010 so now I am going to have to hold you all responsible if my livestock doesn't immediately show increased growth and vigor:) Anyway it sounds like a better alternative than trying to retrofit my old skimmer. Gotta get that frag tank up and running.

It would be interesting to see KVMN's in person to see if it's just user error or if there is actually something wrong with it.......
If it was sent in to Roger and he actually tested it, sounds awful suspicious that it's user related and nothing wrong with the skimmer itself.
They are sweet little skimmer IME. I personally think about a 125g is the high end up rating though. Soon I will be putting it on a 180g but will also have a good sized refugium/mud system on it as well. Hoping it will be enough. If can't handle it I will buy a second 9010 and essentially have a 9020.
The 9010 on the frag tank has slowed considerably ( was 100ml per day now more like every 2-3 days ). Pretty sure, it caught up with what the previous skimmer couldn't handle and just isn't much left to skim since frag tank doesn't get fed and no fish.
i would love to drop it off at your house if you don't mind to check it out for me,,,
when i use it as in tank set up then it work fine but i hated to see black box in the show tank
but when i setting up with in cabinet set up (with raise tube with blue foam) then it doesn't create any skim mate or the foam doesn't raise up to the neck and the blue air srew turn all the way out just about to fall( 5"h water in sump)
Mr Roger try it out with in tank set up but i don't think he did try with in sump yet,,i got a picture from him setting up in tank and that i know it work
David if you don't mind to check it out for me i would love to bring it to your place some time weekend
maybe something just simple to fix that i don't know about (never own tunze before)but i read and read the manual and try everything but i giving it up now by just set it up in tank
thanks very much,,,

If your in Shakopee perhaps can meet at OD sometime. I work just a few blocks from there in Burnsville. I'll take it home, set it up in my sump let it run for a day of so and give you a status. My tank consistantly pulls out about 100ml per day, so it will be easy to tell if functioning fully.
If by chance your missing any needed parts, I have the insump mode parts from my other 9010 I could use then you would just have Roger send a replacement.
On my the pump inside wasn't seat quite right and output was leaking out other than the standpipe causing the water level to never rise in the skimmer. Of the top of my head that sounds likely to be the case here too.....
i have to work every accept sunday from 10 to 8pm so i don't think i can be at the meetting but it would be interest to see what is the meetting like
i am new here so what do people do at the meetting anyway?? i my try to get off early to check it out but i don't know yet
David if you work is burnville then i could bring it to your work place,,,too
