Late in the week my wife notified me she sold my 75. Great! We *should* be moving in a week or two, they can wait right? ya.. only in a perfect word. They are picking up today.

So, I get home at about 6:30, trade off some LR from the wife's tank, get out my 44G on wheels, buckets, extra 20L and a 20 gallon tote.. Move everything out of the tank and wonder when I lost one of the 2 pep shrimp..

Move in new tank. Crap! need plumbing parts.. what? Menards is open till 10? off I go. Get back, plumb.. Test skimmer, darn it, leak. Use the only thing I can find in the house. "Ray's Reef Glue" seals the skimmer right up. Back in business. Run all my other pipe. Only thing I forgot, a valve for the return pump. Wide open is a title-wave across the 6 foot tank.. a Rio 800 has all it can do to get the water over the top maybe 15GPH. That'll do till I get outta bed.

That rock sure filled a 75..

When/If we get in to the new home this is all going in the basement, and the skimmer/sump will be in the laundry room. The tank will likely be larger (got my eye on a 300G) in wall. But, for now. This will do. I now have room for KVMN's rock :)

I go to bed now.

Looks like you had fun ;) Dam...do they still make 44G tanks? That is a sweet tank to work with. :beerchug:

Wheres the outlet on that skimmer? I assume the top is the inlet right?

it's a 44 gallon Brute trash can Ray ;)

The large pipe is the outlet, it has a pipe that runs down to the bottom inside the body of the skimmer. on the back of it is the venturi and inlet at the bottom. About 3/4 of the way up is a plug for a second venturi if I want to ad yet another pump to it.

No comment on the use of your frag glue to plug a leak?

Sounds like you had a long night, but hey, at least that tank is sold. It's one less tank to have to move later. Hope you got a good nights sleep.

Merkurfan

110.. without wheels ;) The top has no center supports because the glass is 9/16th thick.

Ya could always look at the title of the tread.. :stupid:

it was buried in the garage. Been there since it was given to me about 2 months ago. it was just a week or so ago that I got a stand for it.

BTW if/when we close the deal on the house, we have selected a tank to buy with our 8K check.. so the 110 might be for sale. make a heck of a grow out tank.

I had the cover off.. stinky.. So she must be working. I got her of CL, rummor was while I was buying it, everyone else was asking "should I buy it"..

price was right, so I snapped it up.

I really worry about using a gate valve to keep the water level up. it gets clogged. pump keeps running... wife shows me the door...

thought I had my first fatality today. Found the manderian in the sump... Figured he croked and rode the pipe down... Till I tried to net him and he started swiming around the sump.

So I tossed him in the fuge for now. he's still pretty thin and the massive (fills a 6 gallon bucket) blob of Chato is full of pods.

Ok, so the tank has been up about a week. Did my water checks tonight.

KH seems a bit higher than the directions in the kit say it should be for a reef. Need I worry?

Test kit is a API kit. As for water changes.. well... Since I setup the 75 in march I have done ONE 10-15 gallon water change. Every gallon from the 75, the connected 20L and the 20L sump went in to the 110, the rest of the 110 was filled with clean RO and RC salt.

your dkh is fine...as long as it ranges around that 8-12. Even on the highside it will drop evenually. If you really are worried you can always do a 10% WC.

What's your Mag? By keeping your Mag inline can also influence your dkh

My mag is still at the LFS.. I'll pick one of those up today.
