Is this a good pump to run from basement to tank.
About 15' up......looking for good flow with low watts

Any of the sequence reeflo pumps, I have a snapper on my frag tank and LOVE it. It is so quiet, and puts out lots of flow.

The dart is a great pump but I can't say that I've seen many people use it to pump 15' vertical height(like in a basement).
Typically the higher pressure pumps are used for basement sumps, but that's not to say the Dart wouldn't work, you just may not get a ton of flow.
Check out their site for the pump curve to see what you'll get at 15'.

If you wanted to go with a reeflo pump in this situation I would lean towards a hammerhead, but would still need to be a pretty straight shot in order to still get some good gph. What size tank will this be on? I went with a panworld 250PS on my 150 tall so that I could run 2 eductors as well (pushing from my basement)

this will be for a 120, I dont need a lot of flow, I do OK with 2 TUNZE nano45.
Tank is Soft and few LPS, no SPS....I just dont want to run 3ooW 24/7

I have an Iwaki 70, used just a few hours. Good pressure rated pump, about 1100gph at 15' (it does have higher wattage though). $250.

I'd just go with a hammerhead from Dirk.
i got wahoo ,,work great from basement 15' up with some extra power to run other thing with same pump

Oops, forgot that the hammerhead did 350 watts, the wahoo does look like a great option for you, and you could even try putting a large eductor on it as well...

Bump......wahoo seems to be the top pick now.
Looks like I will finally do the sump in the basement.
Any other ideas?

i'm kind of in the same situation, i'm going to do a basement sump as well,i'm looking at the dolphin ampmaster pumps though.

looks like the Dolphin will push more water.
lets pool order, or see if Max or Dirk can do better on price.
shipping is a big cost.

Don't be fooled on the Ampmaster. I used an Ampmaster 3000 years back and it run 208w and closer to over 2amps with 4 foot of head. They aren't pressure rated pumps so with the kind of head your looking at they aren't going to handle it very well IMO.

I'd go with a pressure rated pump, sequence, blueline, panworld, coralife, iwaki, maybe even a little giant.

Thank you for all the information.
I am trying to it right this time, so this feedback is keeping me from making a big and costly error.

In your basement is the sump going to be located directly below the tank? If so, you may be able to reduce the size requirement some by having the sump high up as possible. Since your tank is going to have wavebox and/or nano tunze, I personally wouldn't be looking for mongo gph...... 600-800 after head would be more than suitable IMO.

The system has IWAKI pumps, but they are close to 10 years old....should I just keep them and run them till the die?
what is the life of an IWAKI?
whats a fair price I should offer for the used pumps?
everything is working well at this time.

David,
just curious on your statement of gph.
i have a coralife turbo sea 1100p that i'm hoping to use in my basement sump with about 8-9' head loss, coralife said this will pump 840-900 gph at that height, with subtracting the 90* elbows i'm not sure of the gph for a 110, i was going to run it straight up to the tank into a Ocean Motion wavemaker, but i'll have a 90 in each corner and probally1-2 in the basement to come up.
hope all this makes sence
what are your ideas, go with a bigger pump?
thanks

I am going to use the Iwaki pump till it goes.
the tank has 2 over flows and has a closed loop with 6 ports.
I dont want to return over the top (has 2 SS fed with 2 pumps now).
Can I just plug the to lower drains of the CL and use the top 4 ports that have the INTERLINK on them as my return?
should I use a manifold off the pump?
or T off the return with flex tube?

Keep in mind power outages etc. and if check valve was to fail your water is going to drain all the way down to that bulkhead so you need to plan/account for something like that. Personally, it's much safeer to go over the top.
