Randomly this afternoon I ended up w/ some sort of a sea slug in my nano. Must have come in on the live rock, but it's strange that it's taken months for it to show itself. It's very small (1/2inch) and a strange black body w/ a white underside. anybody know anything about these things??? How do I identify the species?? any problems w/ corals??
give me your reefing genius input

Could be a limpet, a type of snail (good guys). Look at the top and see if there is a white ridge on it. This is actually the shell, the mantle usually covers most of it so it can be hard to see.

sounds like a sheilded limpet to me I started with 2 about a year ago and now I got about 15-20 babys.
I dont know what they eat but they dont hurt any corals that I have seen

scutus slug, a harmless, nocturnal worker.

Alright, this little bugger is acting weird. Every 10 seconds or so it kind of puffs something out of itself and into the water. It looks like a little cloud that quickly gets dissolved and disappears. None of the corals or fish seem to be bothered but worries me slightly.
it has a jet black shell.
someone tell me what's going on please
thanks
