the ad on RC says:
"175w IceCap electronic Ballast (old style ballast w/new harness) Parabolic reflector w/mogul sockets - Brand New
Ushio 175w 10k bulb - used 6 months"

here is a picture that he posted.


i asked him about it through PM, this is what he said.
"The new harness is brand new and that plugs right into the ballast. The other wires you need to connect to the cords on the lamp socket and the remaining wires to a switch or lamp cord that you'll plug into a timer or outlet. It's pretty easy though. Let me know if you still want it....I'll be $115 shipped"

this will be going on a 20L if its a good deal and it isnt sold to someone else.

That style hasn't been made for 5 years now. With all the new bulbs that keep coming on the market it may limit you on bulb choices or will cause the bulb to flicker because they need to be tuned for the specific bulbs unlike the new versions. They also overdrive the bulb which can be a good thing I guess. If you wanting to go to a higher K bulb for as a 14 or 20K you may have flicker issues.

I wouldn't do it. Just too old IMO......

The ones with a quick disconnect have no restart circuit, will overdrive the lamps, and sometimes have to be adjusted at the factory to run certain type lamps. There are now lamps on the market that would require restart capability. The old style has not been manufactured in over 5+ years now.

The new style has no quick disconnect, has built in restart capability and drives the lamps to the required wattage. Will run flicker free as it operates with a high sweeping frequency.

how about this? is this a good deal? i have seen a 70 watt 14k bulb that i would eventually switch to.
