I have had a pair of solmon Island true Percs that have been breeding for the past year or so. Also along the way i just happen to have a breeding pair of cardinals. Last batch of cardinals i got 51 fry he norm only has about 10 or so. The system is 2 33 gal drilled ran into a 40 sump. I just have the window for lighting with some supp normal output. As for filtration i Just have a Euro Reef skimmer, with some rubble in the sump. I will be working on adding water volume to the tank ;) and a fuge in the spring. I live in ND

I thought they were regular percs. those look like Onyx!
SweetJ
02-22-2010, 06:32 PM
some say onxy/ some say SI true Perc. They had the SI tag when i bought them. But you never know.
mpedersen
02-22-2010, 08:25 PM
FWIW, Onyx is a phenotype, SI (Solomon Islands) is a collecting locality, so these are arguably "both"...whether the offspring will develop full Onyx coloration or not is always a dice role with any juvenile from an Onyx Pair (even my own offspring) - that's why full on adult Onyx Percs cost as much as they do (they're at least 2-3 years old).
NICE PAIR if you ask me!!!

Nice system, and effort on the breeding! Any chance you could sell a few bangai cardinals to someone that's interested in breeding them? I have one captive breed cardinal coming, but would like to get a few from different stock for crossing. Also, I'm willing to listen to all the tips you might have on how best to raise them :beerchug:
