Just wanted to share my most exciting find in, well, a long time/forever. Just pulled this Gem out of a wild shipment we unpacked at the store today. Took it home right then and there. Man, this thing is amazing, and it's a nice big piece too. It closely resembles the BPC Flamethrower chalice of great renown, but it's a big wild colony. It's about 7-8" across and totally gorgeous! I can't wait for it to settle into my tank and fill in from the shipping stress. This pic was taken as I was acclimating to my tank just hours after pulling it out of the box, so it's a little beat up.

Ooh, that has potential there...hmmm
One of the guys at work suggested The Daybreaker. I'm not sure yet what I'll call it, but it'll need a worthy name for sure. Yours is a contender!

It should heal up nicely...looks like a nice yellow rim is going to come along.
Nanofins
02-26-2010, 01:25 AM
Yeah, there is a yellow rim along most of it already. Just some areas that got scuffed up that need to heal. The eyes are really big too, so that makes them pop in the tank. I have the real BPC Flamethrower, and they do look very similar, but one eye of this piece is nearly the size of my entire frag of Flamethrower. I don't think the FT eyes even get this big. I'm also curious to see how the blue streaks develop on this as well.

Could be apt.
Thanks for all the contributions guys. I think I'll let this piece adjust to life in my tank for a while before settling on a name. For now, though, I think Ray and I are on the same wavelength. Not the Asian Invasion:biggrin:--The Ironman. Looking at it in person, this really seems fitting, and it's a cool name. We'll see though. There are some others I like too.
I won't be doing any cutting on this beauty for a while, as I'd like to see how it fills in, colors up, and grows in my system. I may make a limited number of frags come May or so, to spread a few around, but I'll be keeping most of this one intact. I've already had quite a few crazy offers, including some trade offers for some really great corals I'd like to get a hold of, so I may utilize it for that. I'll post some updated shots once it's had time to heal up a bit and fill in. I fed it last night and it ate like a champ; even had second helpings, so I'm very hopeful.

Might have a point there. Right now the MN Ironman seems to be leading in favor, and got good reception for the other fellas at work. They, of course, are trying to claim dibs on the first frags, but I already told them they, like everyone else, are going to have to wait.
