They are Premnas biaculeatus AKA maroon anemonefish. beautiful pair.

interesting, they look much too orange to me. but then, i guess since they are adults, perculas wouldnt be so bright orange?

Yep, it is a stock photo, it came on my Mac, it is also my background. I am pretty sure it is a photoshop photo.

I suspect some photoshopping is involved here, but I have seen maroons that were sort of that color in real life. Most that I have seen have been basically sort of brown though. I've always wondered what is up with that. At first I thought it was an age thing, with younger ones brighter in color than older ones, but the tiny gold stripe maroon I bought to be a mate for the big gold stripe I got from Havre some years ago was dark brown when tiny, just like his huge mate. Are there simply different strains, some of which are redder than others? (some of the ones I've seen that were pretty red were gold stripes, so I don't think it is simply a gold stripe vs. white stripe thing).
