I got my closed loop all plumbed yesterday for my new tank and started to add water and guess what. I have a leak. I primed every joint and used ample glue.
The leak is somewhat minor but how do I seal the leak? Do I have to start over with new pieces or can I add some glue around the joint?

i would think glue around the joint isnt going to help, as the glue itself isnt like silicone, it actually melts the plastic together.
If you used ample glue on your hard pieces, i would look at anything with threads, and your pump. you must use a lot of teflon tape (white tape on a blue spool) around all of the threads, or that can be a big source of the leak.. and if that doesnt do it, look at your pump.

I'd start over on that section. PVC is cheap and better to take care of it now than having to deal with it when it's full of livestock.

I know where the leak is coming from. It's a slip piece, not threaded. So there is no other way to redo it except to start over?

I agree with david, Ive tried to fish that problem and cutting and replacing is all I found that work

cut it out and add a slip piece on both ends if you can. That way you may be able to just replace the section around the leak and not the whole train

Well thats a pain. I've already made 5 trips to Menards the way it is.

Where the leak is I will have to replace about 10.00 worth of fittings. No biggie

weldon 40 ,a two part epoxy would seal it, but at 12 bucks for the kit plus shipping you might as well just re-do it for less.

Weld-on 40 for PVC? I thought that was only an acrylic compound, I didn't know it works on PVC.

I had this problem on some plumbing in my basement. It was a slight leak till it built pressure then the whole fitting blew off.
It happened because I was using the wrong cement for the kind of pipe I had. So, that might be worth a check.

Well I already have Weldon 40. I've done lots of plumbing with my various tanks and always use the same cement so I wouldn't think thats the problem. I redid the plumbing job where the leak was and filling the tank back up a little to see if it is fixed. Fingers are crossed.

i've used something called Marine Goop, they sell it at fleet farm, i'v used a hair dryer to make it dry faster and worked great for me. just a thought.
