Where in the twin city area can I find some of this glass and have it cut to my specs?
Also looking for a calcultor to find out glass thicknesses for a tank that is 84L x 48w x 31h. or a good do it yourself page for building a glass tank.
thanks don

just about any glass shop that cuts sheet Glass can order it for you. the problem is they need to have the edges ground and polished so there is no chance it will crack. when you grind and polish the edges it removes the sharp edges and increases the strength of the glass at the edges.

I went to Brin NW glass for a 72x24 piece of 1/2" starphire, it was about $290 (but I was able to use a friend's contractor account). I've heard their prices are as good as anywhere you can find in the TC.
For your tank I would for sure use 3/4" glass, with a 3/4" bottom piece. A couple of mfgrs I spoke with said they probably would have used 3/4" on my tank, which is 72Lx36Dx24H. (However it's made from 1/2" and seems to be holding up. :) )
Also, some bracing pieces along the bottom are a good idea, increasing your bonding surface area on the bottom seams. And of course Eurobracing along the top should be included.
There is a TCMAS member named Vertical who has built glass tanks, he may be willing to offer some design advice via PM (although he is currently getting out of the hobby).
