Where is a good place to get glass locally? I need some panels for a sump and overflow cut.

Thanks!
Chris

What specifically are you looking for?

The overflow is going to be 6" high I think and about 24" long. I haven't decided the depth yet. I still need to figure out how I want to mount the Hayward bulkheads so I can see how much depth I'll require. The sump is a 40 breeder so I'll need 4 pieces 1/4" glass for the bubble trap and refugium. I still have to measure to get the exact size I need. I'm thinking 11" high should be good.

Thanks!

Thanks for the dimensions! Do you know if Home Depot or Menards will cut glass for you also? Any tips, tricks or links on installing and not making a huge mess?

There is a place on on the corner of 169 and bass lake road. I cant remember what it is called but I got a great deal on the glass. It was four baffles that were about 17'' by 17'' 1/4'' thick for 35 bucks

Ideally use plenty of masking tapes :)

If you don't have masking tape, make as much mess as you need to, to get
baffles install correctly and then wait for silicone to dry and use a razor
to scrape off the excess silicone to get nice straight silicone edges.

What I do is put the glass baffles in place and then apply the silicone along
the contact edges then run finger along the edges to get nice even lines.
If you apply silicone to glass and then try to insert it into tank, it can get
quite messy :eek4: .

I would use a finishing tool instead of you finger. You can get them at walmart, HD, Menards....

Which Ace Hardware did you go to? I've been to the one in Savage and Woodbury and they have just had single strength which is too thin I think...

Thanks!
