Can a clam be placed where it might get slammed with flow? Or do they need to be sheltered in relatively low flow?
The blast out of my hydor flow is pretty strong and it sweeps across a good chunk of the top of my tank. I'm wondering if the clam would be OK there or unhappy.

What kind of clam, it depends on the species.... croceas/maximas are fine others are ok....

crocea
So, basically, as long as it attaches and doesn't get blown off, it will be OK with that flow.

They are the most flow tolerant, they live on the reef crest/flat, where the major wave action is...... That being said I wouldn't point a powerhead directly at them either :) One of my croceas is in the middle of 2 TUnze Stream 6100, not to mention a 1" wave from a wave box...

I put them all in the clam forum, but since you mention it - how long should it take to attach?

It shouldn't take that long, a week?!? I guess I haven't noticed when they were attached or not. The croceas I have, I've had for 1.5 years....
