Mag 9.5 rusting?

I pulled out my Mag 9.5 as I'm changing things around, and I noticed some rust around the edges of the impeller cover (not on the screws). Anyone have this happen?

very typical of magdrives, some never rust, then some rust pretty bad...which is why I will never use one in a reef tank again.

....or a matter of time. I don't know how old yours are, but give them 5 or more more years. You might be surprised by what can happen with continuous use over that kind of time period.

I have had several Mag 7 pumps develop rusty impeller magnets, for example.

Just consider it automatic iron dosing.
