I have some sort of flatworm in my system now. I believe they are Convolutriloba retrogemma or the rust brown flatworm. Will a six line take care of these, or is there another better way?

Here is a thread from the old forum that talks about this -- I heard good things about the Halichoeres melanurus wrasse after searching RC

so madrins are better than six lines??? I have just "recieved" some that are rusty brown with red heads. does anyone have a link to a species vaiation page? I would much rather control the population with a fish than medication. And the timing on this article is great as i was just going to buy a six line.

most wrasse's will keep them at bay as long as they are not too bad.

If they get out of control try "flatworm exit

6line or any type of fairy wrasse work well.

I use a leopard wrasse, specifically the M. Melegris or the Splendid leopard wrasse.

Not a single flat worm in the display, but the walls in the FUGE are covered with them.

I have always been successful with the leopard wrasses vs flatworms. They appear to keep the acro eating flatworms and the zooanthid eating nudis in check also.

Although to my knowledge I have never had the AEFW but I did have the zoo eating nudis, and found one adult once and have never found any since adding the leopard. I did a freshwater dip and blasted off the eggs and they have since disappeared.

BTW, I got the nudis when I was in Houston for MACNA, they had a zoo frag tank, about 5 polyps per frag at $5 each! I brought back a lot of frags!

I had some of those red flatworms in my frag tank along with the white ones, there was not a trace of them about two weeks after adding my psychadelic mandarin, to the tank. Now I just restock pods once a month, and he seems to stay fat and happy.

yikes, I was thinking of a six-line, but I really dig my shrimp as well...will the fairy or flasher wrasses bother shrimp? (don't mean to hijack...)

I have never had any issues with the fairy or flashers bothering shrimp
