Wondering if these work as well, better or worse than the homegrown mod.

I think they would work alright, though I have never used them. By looking at them though, I do not think they would put out near the flow that the MJ Mods do.

i saw them at MACNA, not as much flow as the seamoneky MJ mod, but comes with everything, just plug and play. not bad for $15.

Nothing a dremel can't fix. Widen those openings and it'll flow mad amount of water.

I bought some of the eco system ones, just to see : )

It's funny, at last years macna banquet i sat next to the sure grip guy and talked about the mjmods and I also talked to the eco marine guys . A year later they are both selling them ....

I'd be mad but it wasn't my idea to begin with , it was the community's idea : )

To be honest, i think i'd still rather have hydor or tunze nano than either of these. I like the built in magnet holder, i think they will last longer and come witha solid warranty .

$20 for mod + $20 for new maxijet + $25 for sure grip magnet =$15 more then the Karolia 4 brand new with warranty.

even if you already own the MJ it isn't all that enticing because the lifespan of the modded pump is questionable.

I think the project was a bit more enticing when these other options didn't exist and your only other option was a costly tunze stream.

might be perfect for mixing fresh saltwater though : )

That is exactly what I use my old style MJmods for. Mixes up 40 gallons of saltwater pretty fast.:agree:
