I finally got around to getting a TDS meter. My readings are 234 ppm "in" and 002 ppm "out". I know 0 ppm is the ideal but what range indicates that it is time to replace filters/DI resin?
Thanks,
Ken

2ppm out is great. I change mine around 10-15 ppm.

Are you measuring the out before or after the DI? Most reefers measure the outlet of the RO membrane and the output of the DI - they don't worry about the tap measurement on a dual meter.
2 is good for out of the membrane. If it is 2 coming out of the DI, you probably want to get some replacement resin ordered because it is nearing exhaustion.

The out is after the DI. I ordered some replacement DI with the meter because I had a feeling it was time to replace. I have been fighting hair algae lately and figured it was because of my make up water.
Thanks for the info on where to place the probes.

Quality and accuracy of the $30 TDS meters aren't the greatest. So 2ppm could be 0ppm on others. Not for sure if mine even has a way to try to calibrate or not. Generally, I wouldn't think 2ppm would be significant enough reading to be a cause for alarm.
When you starting seeing 10ppm on up is when I change my first di cartridge. Second DI cartridge should be picking up the slack so I never feel rushed and let the first go to full exhaustion ( where reading out of membrane is the same as reading out of first DI ).

crap, I just installed mine today and wish I would have read this first
I installed my "in" on the incoming line to see regular tap water, but I agree with hypertech and think that putting it after the RO stages prior to the DI would have been a better idea for the "in"
FWIW mine goes from 240 in to 0ppm out
it was at 12ppm before I replaced the DI this morning as well

You can change it.
All I've seen are just a little quick fitting. Push in the ring around the fitting and then the tube will slide out. This will let you move the sensor if you want to.

Yea installing the TDS was one of the easier projects I have had with this hobby. :)

yeah, but then I'd have to reattach the tube ends or else buy more tube........I'll see what I can do
