Hey everyone,

So last night I got to thinking about how the acan I bought from Ray seems a lot less cool looking than when I originally bought it. From what I remember (and from a picture i found of it when he was originally selling them) it was deep red with hints of orange and purples, but now its basically just pink, and lighter pink. I'm really hoping that this is just a consequence of changing my lights to something brighter and that it'll go back to looking super badass, but would there be any other factors that i could be missing? The last time I checked my calcium and magnesium levels, they were both pretty good. I've got another acan that I got not too long ago and its also not looking very vibrant....

try different placement. mine like med to high light and low flow. some like low light. some like high light. try putting them in a cave with some lighting still and try putting them up high on the rocks.

Acans typically prefer low to mid light at best, same for placement. What was your previous lighting? Currently?

Typically Reds will turn pink-ish *Not like the True Pinks on other acans, but a translucent type*

yeah, they're both that translucent pink. The Alien eye that you sold me still looks pretty good as far as I can tell and is in a similar location...

As for lighting, I've got it about 3-4 inches from the bottom of the tank (14g biocube) with UVL PC-R Bulbs (one 12,000k white, one dual actinic) and 3 Royal blue LEDs.

I don't really have MUCH in the way of caves to put it/them in, but I suppose (if you think that's the issue) it might be something I can try... I have moved them around a little in the past weeks, trying to get all my corals off the sand (new goby sifts it) which i was thinking could have possibly contributed as well..
