View Full Version : fish for a 55 gallon tank.

is this too many fish for a 55 gallon tank and will they get along.

2 common clownfish

1 flame angelfish

1 carpenters flasher wrasse

1 royal gramma

1 bicolor blenny

and a clean up crew of 1 serpant starfish, snails, and shrimp.

and does anybody have ideas for aqua scaping a 55 gallong tank.

I think that is a perfectly good stocking list for a 55

One note though, are you doing corals? If so, I know for the most part Flame Angels are not reef safe - just something to consider

As far as aquascaping - thats a personal preferance for the most part. Just make sure you have plenty of hiding spots for the fish and have plenty of flow around your rockwork

Also, if you are going to have any sand sifting creatures, make sure your rock is either on the bottom glass surrounded by the sand or propped up on eggcrate or PVC. Otherwise once the sand sifters get going, they may cause your rock to tip/tumble

Lastly - big kudos to you for doing your research and asking many questions during your build.

Alot of people 10-20 years older than you dont take the time to do so right out of the gate!!! :biggthumpup:

There is no set limit. It all depends on waterchanges, bioload and tank care. Will this be a fish only or a reef? Flame angels are 50/50 with corals. Wrasses and shrimp are 50/50 as well. The rest should get along ok.
