I guess you can say i'm still new to the whole SW experience, I have had my tank for about a year and made 2 moves with it, I'm finally at a place that i don't expect to move for a long time.
My current system:
55g tank,
medium sandbed, (60-80 lbs)
40 lbs of live rock, (another 30 base rock cooking)
260w PC lighting, about 4 months old
Prism pro skimmer (not pulling what it used too)
fluval 305 for flow (no media in it besides filter pads that i change every other WC)
Koralia 3 for more flow
8 naussarius snails,
4 mexican
5 cerith
10 assorted hermits.
cleaner shrimp
Pygmy cherub angel
sixline wrasse
mated pair of perc's
two zoa frags.
I have been lucky and really haven't had any problems with fish dieing.
I would like to get some more corals with some color, looking at ric's or frogspawn. can i do this with my current setup?
I also was thinking of getting a new fish... I would like a tank but is there a smaller tang that could fit in a 55? i love the blue hippo but i hear its just unfair to put it in a 55... even if its a really little guy. Otherwise i would like to get a goby of some sort or maybe a blennie.
I am going to most likely purchase these online with some addition to my cleaning crew as its getting low again.
Any suggestions would help.
I would like to get some more coral

Welcome!
Glad the move went well for you!
If you're available tonight, there is a meeting/speaker event at JunBo restaurant off of Nicolett and 494.
Julian Sprung and a couple other speakers presenting for the club.
Cost is $20 at the door I think.
If you can come, let me know soon and I'll bring you a couple things.

Welcome irish02bk!
Looks like you are pretty well set up! Moving a tank can really be a pain - glad it went okay for you. You should definitely try to make the speaker event tonight, as mentioned by Chris.

There's no tang police here unlike TRT that I've seen so far. :biglaugh2:
Just make sure to move it out when it gets too big.

They do have the tang police but TRT has made me successful in SW to far so i'm not complaining...
Whats too big.... Is there one type of tang that is a little easier to take car of then others?
I can't make it to the meeting tonight wish i could.

welcome. if you want some really nice corals you will want to upgrade your lighting. I have a yellow tang in my 30 and he is doing great I have had him for almost a year. also you will want a new skimmer the prizms are not very good.

I slowly want to build up, to higher lighting and corals. What other current corals could i current host under my conditions that i have now?
also can you mix types of shrimp together...

Michael Scotts fish guide book is a great asset to have.

Especially for this type of question. Some are much more disease resistant than others, swimming habits play just as important role than overall size of the fish too.
For a 55g, I'd probably stick with just yellow tang, maybe a purple tang, regal ( hippo ) tang, kole tank type. With the assumption that by the time it outgrows your tank you will have upgraded or found a new home.
All the others are much more prone to ich or need much more swimming space than a 55g can provide.

Not sure about the shrimp but as far as lighting is concerned I run the same a dual pc light setup on my 30 I have some acans and some leathers and they are doing fine. Others on the site here will be able to give better advice as far as what corals you could have. Also I think the yellow tang would do very well in your 55 they are a good easy fish to have.
